Workshop on Voluntary Sustainability Claims on Seafood Products

The Market Advisory Council (MAC) is one of the eleven Advisory Councils that provide the European Commission and EU Member States with recommendations on fisheries management matters under the Common Fisheries Policy. The MAC is composed of 59 members, representing the entire seafood value chain as well as other interests groups, from 11 Member States and provides recommendations on matters relevant for the EU market of fishery and aquaculture products.

On July 13-15, the MAC will be organising a Workshop on Voluntary Sustainability Claims on Seafood Products. The purpose of the workshop is to bring together members of the MAC, institutions and external experts in a constructive exchange about how voluntary sustainability claims on seafood products, including ecolabels and certification schemes, interact with the EU seafood market. The workshop outcomes are intended to aid the European Commission in assessing the situation and to help provide guidance to inform any further steps.

The event will take place as a series of webinars with interpretation available in English, French, and Spanish.
