Joint meeting with the Outermost Regions Advisory Council
On 16 September 2025, in Las Palmas, the Market Advisory Council held a joint meeting with the Outermost Regions Advisory Council (CC RUP) to exchange on the market of fishery and aquaculture products of the Outermost Regions.
The meeting counted on the participation of Charlina Vitcheva (DG MARE Director-General), Isabel Artime (Secretary General of Fisheries of Spain), Salvador Malheiro (Secretary of State for Fishereis and the Sea of Portugal), Padma Chinta (Head of the Fisheries Economics Office of France), Susan Steele (Executive Director of the European Fisheries Control Agency), Narvay Quintero (Counsellor for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands), and Jose Pascual-Fernandez (researcher at the University of La Laguna). MEP Gabriel Mato kindly sent a video message.
In the afternoon, the participants visited the production and processing facilities of a local aquaculture company, Aquanaria, to observe offshore structures and the feeding of sea bass in cages as well as demonstrations of packaging and labelling processes.
